Briefly review the primary survey assessment for a trauma patient. Highlight common mechanisms for burn injuries. Estimate the extent of burns with the Parkland formula. Discuss the risks to the airway, breathing, and circulation of patients with burns. Outline the initial assessment and management of burn patients with focus on inhalational injuries and airway burns. Apply the ATLS protocols to trauma cases.

This session will provide a focused, practical overview of pediatric multisystem trauma, with a special emphasis on the identification and acute management of traumatic brain injury (TBI). Through the lens of the primary and secondary trauma surveys, participants will explore evidence-based strategies for recognizing life-threatening injuries, initiating timely interventions, and prioritizing care in high-stakes environments. Key updates in pediatric TBI management will be highlighted, along with practical tips for rapid information gathering, interprofessional coordination, and effective preparation before the patient’s arrival
